Country Beat Magazine readers voted the Bristol Brothers Best New
Bluegrass Duo for 1995 in the magazine's
People's Choice Awards. The "Brothers" were also
presented with the
Horizon Award from Country Beat.
The Bristol Brothers won the 1997 People's Choics Award in two categories: The Bristol Brothers for
Best Bluegrass/Old Time Group and Richard Hood for Best
Bluegrass/Old Time Instrumentalist.
This isn't a group dusting off quaint old artifacts - this is lively and traditional music that includes songs composed just last week as well as favorites in the styles of times gone by.
The venerable magazine Bluegrass Unlimited reviewed both Old Style and Cornbread Willie, and had good things to say! About Old Style "this is a well-recorded, well-produced release which has some very pleasant "old style" music - buy this album, sit back, relax, and enjoy!", and Cornbread Willie "This is a fine recording for lovers of traditional old-time music, banjo history buffs, and for anyone interested in understanding more about the roots of bluegrass". The extensive liner notes that accompany each recording also received high marks.
