Memorial Day

It is Saturday March 30 and I’m writing about the Florida Picnic while watching it snow like a @#$$! Something just seems wrong here.

Well anyway I got a brief note from one of the returning members.

About 44 attended the RGE Florida picnic, plus 4, who arrived late (Dick Morrill and Dennis Gent). They were among the 24 attending Bill and Janet Goodman’s place after the picnic.

Leon Harris and wife are selling their Florida property and returning to Rochester, nearer family. Another couple, volunteered to replace them , along with Don Jeerings.

A sad note and moment of silence was held for the 24, former attendees, who passed away since the last picnic, including Kieth Amish, Bill Stoddard, Bob Guenther and Bill Winfield.

Several asked about Vera and MacLeod and I told them, I was trying to contact both of you.

From the sound of that note everyone had a great time. I would like to take a moment to than Leon Harris and his wife for all they have done over the years to help make thus a success.

Remember These?

Late Newsletter

George F. Farinacci - Cleveland, Oh, March 12. 2014. George worked for many years in the Gas Engineering Dept.  I’m not sure the name of the department he worked for when he left RG&E and moved back to Cleveland to be with his family.

Remembrance:

I used to see him once in a while at Wegman's and wondered what had happened to him since I hadn't seen him in quite a while.  I always admired George for overcoming the tough hand he had been dealt in life.  He told me one time that he had been able to hear normally until he was 12 years old. Then he had a bad case of measles and mumps at the same time and ended up in the hospital.  When he woke up the next morning he was completely deaf.  Even with that hardship, he graduated from RIT with a degree in engineering from the regular school program.  He didn't want to go the NTID school route.  There was no quit in George.     Jim McGuire

Brian Walsh-Brighton, NY March 13, 2014. Remembrance: Brian was a fine person. So tragic to lose him so early in life, -Dennis $

William R. “Bill” Schlegel - Webster NY, March 23, 2014, at 82. Bill retired from the Electric Distribution Engineering.

Augustino “Tedo” D’Aurizio - Pittsford, NY, March 22, 2014. Tedo retired from General Maintenance.

Romayne "Deck" Decker - Tarpon Springs, FL, March 30, 2014 at 90. Deck was retired from Customers Accounting. He was a Tech Sgt. in the 87th Air Born Division in WWII.

Last month I promised that I’d look into Long Term Care and write an article for you guys.  Well I didn't get a chance to look into this last month, but look who sent me an email.

Hi Tom –

Great newsletter (as usual)! We would love to talk to you about long-term living arrangements and planning for the future. We have someone on staff here dedicated to talking about Medicaid and Financing Long Term Care. His name is Alan Ilig and he can be reached at 244-8400 x118.

Have a great day!

Julie (Life Span)

Now that’s service. I’ll try and make an appointment with him this month and report back to you guys. But don’t wait for me if you have questions. Just call him.

PS; No one tell my daughter or Arnie that I’m looking into this stuff. They just may “sign me up”.

Spring is a joyous time. The only sad day is Memorial day, a day set aside for those Veterans who gave their all so that we could maintain our freedoms.

Ray Dunn will be conduction a short service in remembrance of those RG&E employees who did not return.

I do not have the details or the date yet, but I will include that information in our next news letter.

I don’t normally include “clips” in our newsletter because there are so many possible combinations of things that can go wrong in getting them to you.

Well if they work on your system, they are worth it/

1st The filming was actually done in the old Opera House in Geneva, NY

This video humbles you right down to your toes.

2nd Food City, a Grocery Store Chain, is located in the Southeast

and is headquartered in Bristol, TN.

This is a great 1-minute commercial.  Not a word spoken.........and none needed.

In an effort to keep the cost of email services down, I did not renew the extra emails I have been paying for over the years to deliver this newsletterr

Why? You ask.

Well most of the email services that are out there for free email have a catch. A person can only send around 250 emails a day, and then they shut you down. This newsletter goes out to 600 addresses.

Anyway this month I was way over the limit with all the end of month obits and had to wait for few days before sending this one out.

Sorry, Tom
