Well there are still emails coming in about the problems some people are having with our HR department. All I can recommend is to hang in there. It might take them a year or two to straighten it out but they will. Then they’ll hire a new contractor and we get to start all over again. |
Cook Book? |
Arnie and I would like to wish everyone a Happy Easter or Passover, which ever is appropriate.

I haven’t gotten any of the picture from the Florida Picnic, but I got a bunch of emails telling me what a nice time they had there and how much they enjoyed all the hard work that went into making this party a success.
So we must praise the “Committee” and all their helpers for a job well done.
Thanks Guys! |

Thank you for your efforts in the pioneer's club newsletter. I thought we were the only ones with problems with the Hewitt HR. When your wife is dropped from your health contract it becomes a stressful and finical ordeal. during one of my many calls to the new HR trying to get my wife reinstated on Medco they said that there were 390 others waiting to be . Does this prove that bigger is not always better. Keep up the good work.

Good Morning Tom and Happy St. Patrick's Day to You,
A while back, when all the hoopla was going on about our benefits and health insurance, you published a few phone numbers and names that someone sent you as contacts for RGE benefits, etc. Apparently these names, and numbers, were people that were available and not just numbers to leave a message. Do you still have that information available?. I mistakenly erased that particular newsletter.
Thanks for your help,
Contacts are: Does anyone have any suggestions for this next email?
Tom, After reading the last newsletter I am concerned for the continuation of my wife’s Health Care coverage. Two of my friends who either worked for the company or were the spouse of an employee upon turning 65 have had nothing but problems with lost or misplaced forms for the continuation of their Health Coverage. Do you have any suggestions for easing the transition from pre 65 to post 65 or the name of someone to call regarding this transition. My wife does not turn 65 until July but I am preparing for some kind of a problem(s) at that point. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Should I have a sit down with MVP or their representative to ease this transition.
Thanks for any info or suggestions.
Editor Comments:
It’s a shame that in the leisure years, a person has to worry about their health coverage. It seems as if we place our future in the hands of people who don’t care. I can only hope that when those people reach their “golden years”, they are fortunate to receive the same treatment from their replacements. |
Well it appears that the golf season has arrived. I received my first announcement of the season. |

Hello Tom,
Would you print this in the next newsletter? A 91-year-old woman in Nebraska (formerly of Rochester) is looking to replace her “Favorite Holiday Recipes” book. She lent hers to an exchange student who used a cookie recipe to enter a entry in the Nebraska state fair contest. The student won!
But in the process, the student lost the “Favorite Holiday Recipes” book. I sent the woman something similar, but it would be nice to be able to replace the book. Perhaps someone has a copy and would let me borrow it and make a copy.

I guess that request goes in the “No good Dead goes unpunished” file. Well actually it just shows that even displaced Rochesterians help others in achieving their goals.
I personally don’t have any of the old receipt booklets. So I’m going to attach a copy of the cover to make it easier to find in your collection of booklets. If you find it. Please contact Rick. |
Hi Tom----- Did you see this? I believe Frank came out of the Steam Distribution, transferred to the Gas Dept. He used to cook lunches at Front St. a couple days a week I remember his chili spaghetti was terrific,,,,, Don
The estate of a man who died after the scooter he was riding fell from a lift at the Jell-O Museum has filed a federal lawsuit.
The case was filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Rochester by Sophia LaMont, the administrator of the estate of Frank P. LaMont Jr., her father. He was a resident of the Canandaigua Veterans Affairs Medical Center at the time of his death in October 2010.
The defendants are: the United States of America; the Le Roy Historical Society, which owns the museum; The Safety and Access Co. Inc., which serviced the lift; and Ikeco Inc., a Buffalo company that sold and installed the lift.
According to court papers, LaMont’s scooter traveled through the back door of the lift. He fell about three feet, landing headfirst on concrete with the scooter on top of him. LaMont’s skull was fractured and his neck was broken. He died later the same day.
The suit claims his death was the result of the negligence of the VA workers supervising LaMont on the outing, and the defective design and maintenance of the elevator.
In May 2011, Sophia LaMont filed a claim for $500,000 with the Department of Veterans Affairs, but it was denied.
LaMont, a veteran of the Marine Corps with renal disease, became a VA hospice resident in August 2010, when he was 81. LaMont, a Rochester Electric and Gas Corp., retiree, is survived by two daughters.
“Although he was approaching the end of his life, he was comfortable, remained fairly mobile, and valued and appreciated the remaining months that he believed he had left,” Deborah M. Field, a lawyer for the plaintiff, wrote in the suit. “The family is seeking justice for the tragic death of their father. They don’t want this kind of thing to happen to anybody else,” Field said in a telephone interview Tuesday.
Lynne Belluscio, curator of the Jello-O Museum said her organization has not been served with the suit and she had no comment. A man who answered the phone for the Safety and Access Co., who would only say his name was Jim, said his company had not been served and he had no comment.
A message left for an official at Ikeco has not yet been returned. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Buffalo also did not comment on the suit.
Editor’s Note: My records indicate that Frank retired from the Gas M& U Department. But because Steam closed down many years before Frank’s retirement I can believe he ended up in Gas. I never had a chance to sample his pasta but I remembering hearing how good it was. |
