Obituary Page

We lost four individuals that I am aware of in May

They will be missed by who knew them.

Robert R. "Bob" Brown Jr. - May 12, 2011, Webster, NY at age 83. He worked at Ginna.

Giuseppe Bronco - May 11, 2011, Gates NY at age 75. He worked in the Subway Department.

Harold E. Rosentreter - May 17, 2011, Greece, NY at age 92.

Harold worked for Rochester Gas & Electric for 44 years as Safety Coordinator for the Gas Division. In his early years he served in the US Army as Staff Sergeant and was a WWII Veteran. Harold also graduated from the Eastman School of Music from the Preparatory Division and specialized in the French horn. He played in and directed many orchestras and bands. He had many solos and entertained at weddings and special events. Harold directed many church choirs including Wesley United Methodist, Greece Baptist, Dewey Ave. Presbyterian Church and First Baptist of Penfield. In earlier years he directed many minstrel shows. Later in his career, he directed show choirs such as the song and dance team known as "The Songsters", the RG&E and Gleason Works Choruses. Harold also had an affinity for handbell music and directed a few handbell choirs as well. An avid model railroader for many years of his life, Harold spent countless hours designing and building two very large railroad layouts in two of his previous homes.

Joseph J. Polazzo - April 29, 2011, Ft Meyers, FL. at age 79.

Memorial Day

Birthdays

RG&E Chorus

This year's picnic will be on Thursday, August 4, 2011

We are again holding the picnic at the:

Barnard Exempt Party House,

360 Maiden Lane

from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

We feel that the facilities are centrally located and perfect for our needs. We also have received no complaints from anyone attending about the place.  So we booked it again for this year.

Arnie and I feel that holding it on the first Thursday in August will be easy for everyone to remember.  It also keeps us from competing with all the organizations that want to use picnic facilities on weekends.

The menu this year consists of:

Hot dogs (Red & White), Hamburgers, Grilled Chicken Breast, Rolls, Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, Potato Salad, Macaroni Salad, Milk, Tea, and Coffee, and Dessert, and Chips, Pretzels & Peanuts at the bar

The food will be available from  12:30 – 2 PM

It's buy your own adult refreshments and/or soft drinks, so don't forget to bring money.

For those of you that still are working, this is a perfect excuse for a days vacation (or some sick time!)

For tickets, you must send a check made out to the “Pioneers of RG&E” for $16.00 per person..  Then mail it to:

Arnie Stockslader

131  LeGran Rd

Rochester, NY  14617

We would like the checks in our hands by Thursday, July 14, 2011.  This will give us time to make sure there is enough food and drink for everyone attending.

Remember there will be no tickets sold at the door.  The caterer only brings enough food to feed the attendance we guaranteed by the end of July.

So let’s get out there and spread the word. It’s up to each and everyone of us to make sure our club continues.

And as always, Arnie and I are always looking for volunteers and or suggestions for this party.  You can email us at Arnie@thepioneersclub.org or Tom@thepioneersclub.org.

PS: If this notice looks familiar, the only things that changed were the dates. We Kept the price and menu the same.

Memorial Day is an important day to an old veteran like me.

Paul and Nancy Grabenstetter visited the Bath National Cemetery and I got some pictures.

Best Wishes from all of us to all of you.

My thanks to Ron Saar for this picture.

Check you photo albums for something you might want to share.

This was a mere 70 years ago....

Makes complaining about no cell service, high gasoline prices, not
enough cable channels, et al, seem a bit ludicrous.
