I got an email from a retiree from our “old” Employee Department, Tim Browne.

Tom - Tim Browne here, hope all is going well with you!!

Like you, I'm sure, you have probably just received your "Annual Benefits Enrollment" package and were probably just as astounded as I was to see the increased cost of health care for the 2010-2011 period.

As I am (still) under age 65, the plan that I subscribe to, which is Blue Choice 25 HMO, went up by an astounding 58% !!!!!  or almost $3,300 a year increase !!!!

I contacted HR in Binghampton, and spoke with an HR Rep Debbie Benthem (SP?) or something like that to verify rates and company contributions.  Of course, all the blame was placed on Excellus and MVP (previously Preferred Care) as Debbie informed me that the companies did the best they could in negotiations.   Sounds to me like they need new negotiators!!! Many of the HR folks that were previously there (Mark Corbitt, HR Director; Rich Benson, Sr. VP, et al) are no longer there of course - I imagine several of them got their golden parachutes!!!

The new Vice President of Human Resources is Sherry Lamoureux - I would encourage everyone who is as upset about increasing rates to write, call or e-mail Sherry and anyone else in command that might be responsible for this outrageous "rate negotiation process".  Debbie informed me that the Company contribution is still $242/Mo. and those retiring under at least one of the early retirement packages continue to receive $100/mo.  That mean the Company pays $342/mo. I will be paying $745.33/mo. for a total of $1,087.33/mo. or $13,047.96/yr!!

I'm hoping that the folks over age 65 are being treated better than the under 65 population due to Medicare !!!

Hope all the folks that voted for Obama continue to hold their breath waiting for resolution to this outrageous health care issue. It is obvious that the "Company" certainly can't seem to do anything about it!!!!

Feel free to publish this in any forum you see fit!!!

Regards,

Tim

I’m working on getting Sherry’s e-mail address, phone number, and regular address to send her your comments.

Another New Business

Please put my card on the Pioneer’s Website and News Letter.

I retire April 9th and going full time in the business.

As you know I’ve maintained the business which was Signs By Vincent since The RG&E Display Department was disbanded in 1983.

After 38 1/2 Years of Service at RG&E I can devote my full time to my creative side.

The best advertisement is word of mouth and if our fellow brothers and sisters from RG&E spread the word, things will work out just fine.

Thanks

Vincenzo

Retirement Parties

Wow were there a lot of retirements last month!

I went to three of them and it was nice to see a lot of old friends.

I fell down on my job when trying to take pictures of these parties to share with you, but Molly Johnson came through.

Here are some web links she sent me to her photos.

Here are my personal pictures that I have (finally) publicly posted – some from last year and some from this year.

Please enjoy and share with your lists as you’d like!

Steam?

Paul Kimball, retiree from Marketing and currently General Manager of the Rochester District Heating Co-op, sent me this old RG&E Steam booklet.

I thought you’d like to see it.  It is 8 pages long so I put it in PDF format and put it here. I hope it comes through OK.
