The posters were in our August Newsletter.

· The last event is a rescheduling of a Big Band Concert.  I sent our a special notice last month when I was notified of the date change.  For those of you who just joined or missed the notification, the concert scheduled at the Henrietta Seniors Center has been moved to October, 30, 2009. Their complete schedule can be found here.

We’ve been busy on the Web Site.  The RG&E News for 1960 –1970 are now on line. You might want to check them out.  We were all a lot younger then.

Next I got some more Pioneer’s Picnic photos from Vera Bellows and put them on line.

I also got caught up putting the TeamNY newsletters on line also.

There were a few new Service Anniversary Booklets also added.  To get to them start at “About” then select “Company History”.  They are at the bottom of the next page.

There were also some pictures of the Chorus added to the “Musical Family” group.

And I got some pictures I really didn’t know what to do with, so they are under “Odds & Ends”.

Our Condolences

It is with a sad heart that I must report that Dave Priest’s son, Mark died in a tragic accident at Disney World, where he was employed.

Dave is a retiree from the Meter Reading Department.

The local news here in Rochester covered the tragedy in detail, so I’m sure many of you saw the articles.

It is with a heavy heart that I offer the condolences of the members to Dave on his loss.

Welcome

I would like to welcome the new members from Ginna.

I received a mailing list from Sharon Miller and invited them to join. So far we have picked up about 25 new members with more coming everyday.

As a reminder to everyone, as a member of the Pioneer’s Club, you may attend the annual Rochester and Florida picnics.  Since we receive no funding from RG&E these functions are on a cost basis.

If you have an email address, you’ll get this monthly newsletter.

We have a web site at www.ThePioneersClub.Org.  We are attempting to fill it up with all things from RG&E past.

We have a Face Book page which all members are welcome to use.

We have about 90 email addresses in this format:

 username@thePioneersClub.org

available to our members.

I check the Obituary page of the Democrat and Chronicle every day. If I see one of our members, I send a notice to all our members with email address.

Our club motto is; “A Place for Old Timers to get Together”. Actually it is more of a get together for old friends. I hope you can attend one of our functions and see your old friends. And remember, this is a great spot for department retirees to catch up on the news.

Speaking of news, I’m always looking for something to put in this newsletter. So send me stuff!

Florida Picnic

I got an email from Jack Klein about a new location for our Florida Picnic.

As you might remember, we have not had the picnic in Florida for the last two years because the county where  we used to have it, is now requiring liability insurance for all gatherings over 100 people.

Well our little picnic draws between 200-300 people from around the state of Florida.  This meant we would need to spend a little over $200.00 for insurance for 4 hours.

The cost to attend the Florida picnic is simply a dish to pass plus a “pass the hat” for all the condiments.  So you can see  insurance isn’t in the budget.

Anyway back to Jack.  His email indicated that there is a nice park in the Tarpon Springs/Clearwater area that his senior group uses with out the insurance requirement.

I supplied him with Bill Goodman’s and Joe Fabrizi’s email so that they could get together.  So far I haven’t heard back from anyone.

Bill Goodman has put the picnic on for many,  many years.  But because of surgery on his ankles (one last year and one this year) he is unable to get around and do all the things associated with putting on the great affair. So Joe volunteered to help, but couldn’t find a place for last years picnic.

Arnie and I are not snow-birds (but Arnie’s wife said she’d be glad to get rid of him for a couple of months!) , so we can’t really do anything to help from up here.

So if you wish to help her are their email addresses:

Joe Fabrizi—JFabrizi@aol.com

Bill Goodman—goodmanny@aol.com

Jack Klein—jklein66@juno.com

I know it seems early for a picnic in March, but I don’t know about you, but I’m busier now than I was when I worked!
