March Holidays

Memory Lane

I got a new calendar that lists a bunch of holidays.  So I decided to share with you again. March’s listings are:.

8th—Daylight Savings Begins (We can see the snow longer)

             9th—Canberra Day (Australia)

             17th—St Patrick’s Day

             20th—First Day of Spring (Somewhere)

             22th —Mothering Sunday (UK)

Recreation

I know it doesn’t seem possible, but Spring is really coming.  And with spring comes all the outdoor recreation activities.

This newsletter is dedicated to keeping you all informed of what’s going on.

Now I know it seems a bit early, but soon the golf leagues will be starting up again.  So if you wish to have your leagues listed here, now is the time to contact me..

There are a lot of things going on that would be of interest to Pioneer’s Club Members.  If you know of anything you’d like to publicize just drop me an email with all the details and I’ll be glad to do it.

I received a note from Jack Marin containing this link to a YouTube video clip.

It’s of a newscast of the 1966 blizzard.  I was in the Army at that time so I missed it.  But I have a feeling that some of you will remember it.

A Sad Day Remembered

On September 21, 1951, a gas explosion happened in Brighton. Two children lost their lives, 15 homes were destroyed, 16 others were seriously damages, and 23 were damaged by fire or flying debris.

A complete history can be found on the following web site: http://meadowbrookbrighton.org/about/history.shtml. Select “Black Friday” on this page to see the history.

Thanks go out to Ed Pozzuolo for this link.

It was a sad time in the history of RG&E.

White Deer

I received a note from Dennis Money.  It reads:

I am delighted to announce that Seneca White Deer has been approved to host three weekends of tours starting in April. We expect to be sold out just like we were in 2006 so don’t delay in sending in your registration.”

Here’s the poster!
