Jerry Elliott ’43 Still Making Music on the Marimba

A long-time supporter of Nazareth College and Rochester resident, alumna Geraldine (Jerry) Elliott '43, is still making music 65 years after graduating from her alma mater with a music degree. She was a music teacher at Lima Central School District prior to her marriage at the end of World War II, and she continued her interest in music as the church organist for St. Rita's in Webster for 29 years, playing for weddings, funerals, and volunteer events. Currently, she plays the piano and organ for the Chorus at Woodland Village in Greece for special events as well as for Hill Haven, St. Ann's, and several other venues.

Elliott has recording credits on several CDs, playing piano and the marimba. She was a 1935 National Section Four Marimba Champion. In 2007, she released an EP of four Christmas songs with Alfred St.John

Mrs. Elliott is scheduled to play the marimba as a guest performer on Dec. 7 at the Memorial Art Gallery for a CD release party of Caribbean Christmas music. To hear a of sample of her music, click here.
